Product Development Coordinator, Women's Handbags

  • Managed and drove the implementation of the Product Development-wide Innovation Library, part of a company-wide initiative to increase innovation.
    • Sorted, labeled, photographed and organized over 150 leather/technique panels to create a physical library of for all Product Development and Design partners to access throughout development.
    • Learned and utilized the Collector System program to create a digital library to mirror the physical library, creating a seamless check in/checkout process for partners to access panels for innovation inspiration.
  • Reviewed and validated cost sheets from development to production, and implemented cost engineering options to achieve seasonal target margin for all owned product.
    • Implemented 3 key style cost options for Q3 FY20 to bring each style above target margin.
    • Managed half of all key style costs for Q3 FY20, one of which was the largest buy of the season.
  • Acted as knowledge sharing hub and communicated all development information and updates with cross-functional partners (PD, Design, Merchandising, Materials, Production, Vendors, overseas partners).
  • Reviewed all rounds of development samples with a focus on product execution, consistency of details and company standards, and understanding of Design’s aesthetic intent for product approval.
  • Partnered with in-house workshop on execution of development samples, including materials procurement, sample management, and cross-functional communication between design and master craftsmen.
  • Created and maintained material and hardware matrices from development to validation for material booking.
  • Contributed to company-wide innovation initiative by bringing weekly innovation topics to staff meetings, presenting competitor shopping boards, and putting top innovation ideas into work with overseas partners.
  • Partnered with Materials Management to track all material development and procure sampling materials for all development milestones.
  • Supported approvals and resolution of pending materials to meet matrix validation deadlines.
  • Created and maintained development tools to increase team efficiency and increase product knowledge (core leather ring, seasonal color chip charts, product approval toolbox).
  • Initiated and tracked Production Revision Notices with Production team.

  • Partnered with design throughout development cycle into bulk production with the maintenance of TPs and matrices to ensure accurate information was passed off to vendor base, facilitating a smoother development cycle and bulk production process.
  • Managed initial sample development and final bulk production tech pack and matrix pass off.
  • Maintained open lines of communication between vendors, merchandising team and design team to ensure cross-functional alignment on all development, including all changes made throughout the development process through bulk production.
